The Kinugawa Dual Port Adjustable Internal Wastegate Actuator is a universal, bolt-on internal wastegate upgrade for turbocharged performance builds that demand precise, repeatable boost control. The factory actuator’s weak diaphragm spring allows the wastegate to blow open prematurely under high boost — robbing mid-range torque and capping peak power. Kinugawa’s dual port design holds the wastegate closed longer, delivering quicker spool, sharper throttle response, and sustained peak boost for superior acceleration and mid-range pulling power.
This kit ships with a 1.0 bar (14.7 psi) spring pre-fitted on the actuator head, plus a full set of 6 additional springs and 4 straight rods in four lengths — giving you everything needed to dial in the exact boost pressure and rod geometry for your specific turbo application.
Single Port Actuators
Boost reference is supplied to one side of the diaphragm. The wastegate opens in one direction; spring pressure alone handles the return stroke and holds the wastegate closed. Best suited for basic boost control via a manual boost controller (MBC) or electronic boost controller (EBC). Simple plumbing, straightforward setup — ideal for street and mild performance builds.
Dual Port Actuators
Boost reference is supplied to both sides of the diaphragm, enabling bidirectional control of the wastegate — both opening and closing. Spring pressure is pneumatically assisted on the return stroke, allowing a softer spring to achieve the same or higher boost targets with greater precision. Recommended for high-boost applications, high exhaust backpressure environments, or oversized wastegates. Best used with an EBC for maximum tunability.
Tech Tip: Dual port actuators can also be run as a traditional single port — simply leave the lower actuator port vented to atmosphere.
Six spring pressure options are included: 0.5 bar, 0.8 bar, 1.0 bar, 1.2 bar, 1.5 bar, and 1.7 bar. The 1.0 bar spring is pre-fitted on the actuator head. Use the spring pressure tables below to identify the correct spring for your target boost level and to set the appropriate preload. Spring surface paint is used for color identification only — it does not affect spring function or performance.
How to replace the actuator spring and hold boost pressure →

Watch the video below for a complete walkthrough on installing the actuator, setting rod preload, and achieving your target boost pressure.
